geoLAB is a Laboratory of Geomatics for the development of applications of Earth Observation (EO) and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) in the environmental sector. geoLAB is born for sharing experiences, methodologies and information about technical and scientific EO&GIS research.geoLAB - Laboratory of Geomatics born in 2000 within the DISTAF (Dipartimento di Scienze e Tecnologie Ambientali Forestali) of the Facultry of Agriculture of the University of Florence. Distinctive purposes of geoLAB are: - to be a reference center for all those structures in Firenze and Tuscany (Italy) that develop innovative research or professional activities by EO&GIS: University Departments, CNR Institutes and other public bodies, private firms, associations or professional studies. The aim is to foster exchange of information and experiences about the in-progress activities, thus facilitating synergistic collaborations. - to provide EO&GIS services of high quality and heavy processing potential. To such an end, geoLAB can act as consultant center or as scientific partner, making available its human and technological resources. - to provide on-line metadata on the geographical data bases available by the Departments of the Università di Firenze. This service is shaped as an active database on Internet that allows authorized guests to input and manage their own data, and the public to interactively navigate in the data base.
