greenLab - Laboratory of Applied Geomatics

Founded in 2003, greenLab (geo-research for the forest-environment, landscape & biodiversity) is part of the Faculty of Agricultural Science, Program in Forestry and Environmental Science, University of Bari, ITALY.

The laboratory's mission is to apply science and advanced technology to four basic research themes:

1. URBAN & PERI-URBAN FORESTS (Mediterranean urban forest system; Sustainable planning, development & management of urban forests; Ecological functions & benefits of urban forests; Socio-economic implications of urban forests).

2 ECOLOGICAL LANDSCAPE PLANNING & DESIGN (Mediterranean landscapes; Cultural patterns in forest landscapes; Rehabilitation of degraded ecosystems; Visual preferences analysis and assessment).

3. GIS ANALYSIS & GPS INVENTORY (GIS-based models & algorithms; Multi-temporal analysis of forest landscapes; Alternative landscapes development & simulation; GPS data collection & forest inventory).

4. REMOTE SENSING ANALYSIS (Segmentation of remotely sensed images; Forest mapping; Land-use/land-cover mapping; Vegetation index analysis).
