MODELLING THE CARBON SINK IN ITALIAN FOREST ECOSYSTEMS USING ANCILLARY DATA, REMOTE SENSING DATA AND PRODUCTIVITY MODELS
Validation
The results of the simulations will be validated with two different approaches. With point local data from eddy covariance data from flux towers. Data from 11 towers (Figure 2) were collected thanks to the collaboration with a number of different researchers.

The second validation will be carried out on the basis of the data from the National Forest Inventory (INFC - Inventario Nazionale delle Foreste e dei Serbatoi Forestali di Carbonio) aggregated at regional level (NUTS2). Aggregated data from our model will be contrasted against aggregated data from INFC, this approach was already followed in a previous test (Maselli et al., 2009).
